Ok so maybe we're a year late...

I thought this interview was pretty funny. It was done a year ago...thought i'd share with my fellow bloggers.

You Don't Know Me: The Cool Kids
By Julianne Shepard

Straight up, the Cool Kids are diehard '80s babies who bring fresh, futuristic ideas to classic-style hip hop. Throwing minimal space-electro beats beneath their throwbacky jams - when was the last time you heard a young rapper shout out the Smurf with a straight face? - these cats sound extra smooth, slow-cadence gangster in their raps about BMX bikes and downtown b-boy bangers. Two Chicago based producer/rappers known as Mikey Rocks, 19, and Chuck Inglish, 23, the Cool Kids have been tearing it up onstage with their surprisingly hard stage presence, recently wrapping the Fool's Gold tour (with their Chi-City sistren Kid Sister), currently filling the opening slot for Sri Lankan-British toaster M.I.A. They're about to drop the "88 / I Rock" single on Fool's Gold Records (the label run by DMC Champ/Kanye West's DJ A-Trak and Jerz-or-die DJ Nick Catchdubs) with a full-length to follow in '08 on Chocolate Industries...

This is my story:

Mikey Rocks: I'm from the South suburbs of Chicago, and we met over myspace because I liked his beats.

Chuck Inglish: I'm from Detroit, but we moved to Chicago when I was like, 11. I broke my ankle in half and I couldn’t do nothing else, I was bed-ridden. I had to have two surgeries. And I had had a Sidekick and I had nothing to do all day except take Vicodins and play with my Sidekick. So I decided to rap. I had a lot of time to practice, because I just laid in a bed for 18 hours a day.

More interviews and videos coming soon. i need to sleep.

P.S. : Check out the
Black Mags Video...not like you haven't already seen it before...

Danimals...out.

TOUR DATESSS!!!

Concerts r kewl. Period. Here's a list of upcoming performances by The Cool Kids.

Seriously. Go. Its soo worth it.

I went to the April 5th concert at Rutgers U. Mikey n Chuck really live up to their name cuz they are cool as hell. Although the crowd was small (see how america does talented artists, cuz they were freakin sold out in the UK, but I digress) I had madd fun. The new songs they performed are super fresh. I can't wait for the Bake Sale.

Once i get a hold of the picture that one of my friend's friend took of me and mikey, i'll post it for all to see. Chuck was elsewhere and I my camera phone was actin up, so maybe next time. (yea i'm broke and can't afford a digital camera, life of a college student) :-(

Moral of the story is: go support these dudes, its well worth it.

Oh yeah, visit their

Fill ya in

Yeaaa man, Excuse the appearance we're a little naked right now since this is our day.

We'll be up and running in due time.

Got some contests and free shit to give away, so make sure ya check in everyday.

A little history on our dudes for those who dont know....

The Cool Kids are a hip hop duo from Chicago, Illinois and Detroit, Michigan. The duo consists of Antoine "Mikey Rocks" Reed (originally from Matteson, Illinois) and Evan "Chuck Inglish" Ingersoll (originally from Mount Clemens, Michigan).

The Cool Kids' music has been released primarily via their MySpace page, but they have also been signed by several independent labels, most recently to the independent Chocolate Industries. Reed and Ingersoll have collaborated with several other musical artists and made appearances in numerous media.

The members of The Cool Kids met in 2005 when Reed found a beat on the Internet that Ingersoll had produced. The two met to discuss terms of the beat's sale, and eventually ended up recording for two hours. They were inspired by hip hop in the 1980s and artists like Eric B. & Rakim. Ingersoll began promoting the new duo's material, and it was eventually booked by Josh Young of Flosstradamus for a DJ performance. At this performance (in a venue called Town Hall Pub), the duo met the electronic musician Diplo who offered to release a mixtape of their unreleased tracks titled Totally Flossed Out on his label Mad Decent, though it was eventually released on C.A.K.E. Recordings. They also received an offer from the DJ A-Trak to sign to his Fool's Gold label,[4] which they did, but only for one single.

Up until recently, all material had been released solely on the band's MySpace page-their recording contract came after performances at the CMJ Music Festival and Pitchfork Music Festival, on July 15, 2007. Eventually, The Cool Kids signed to Chocolate Industries, another independent label, which had previously been the label of rapper Lady Sovereign. Ingersoll has been the producer for tracks released thus far,[7] but both work in rapping and production. The duo uses music software program Reason from Propellerhead Software to produce their music.

They have been on tour, opening for M.I.A. One of the duo's singles, "Black Mags", was featured in a late 2007 Rhapsody TV commercial, along with Sara Bareilles. In the same year, the group collaborated with Lil Wayne and DJ Benzi through the Internet on a track entitled "Gettin' It", which will reportedly appear on the DJ's future album Get Right. The band has been featured in the video game NBA Live 08 with the song "88",[13] and in the episode "The First Cut Is the Deepest" from HBO's TV series Entourage with the song "I Rock." They were listed in Rolling Stone's Ten Artists to Watch in 2008.

The Cool Kids have revealed that their mixtape EP album, The Bake Sale, will be released in 2008.

HOPEFULLY DROPPING REALLLLLY SOON. MORE DETAILS IN UPCOMING POSTS!!!!
